Wipe Out!

Had a check up this morning.  Counts are very nearly wiped out.  I basically have no white cells, which means the daily Neupogen injections continue.  The first and second rounds of chemo, I think I had to get 6 or 7 shots total each round.  Looks like I might need all 10 this round.  Thankfully, I'm not experiencing any bone pain yet.  My platelets, hematocrit, etc were very low, but not critical yet.  I don't think I'll need a transfusion this round (please pray I don't!), but I'm concerned for next round since this is cumulative.  For those of you familiar with the medical stuff, my hematocrit was 8.6 today compared to 11.1 on Tuesday.  Dr. Billings told me he won't recommend a transfusion, as long as I have no symptoms, until I drop to 7.  I'm asymptomatic for the most part now, so I think I'll hang in there.  White blood cell count dropped from 2.0 to 0.3 (not enough to even say I have any really) and platelets dropped from 169 (low end of normal range) to 94.  I'm slightly concerned that my counts may not recover well enough for me to begin the next round on time, so please pray for this also.

In other news, I returned to work from home yesterday.  Shortly after lunch, my computer crashed.  Now I have to send it off to Houston for repair.  There is a laptop available at the office that I can check out, but now my counts are so low that I can't go into the office to log onto the network and get it set up.  So it's likely I won't be working Monday.  I have another check up on Tuesday, so maybe my counts will be up by then, at least out of the critical level.

We're going to have a very quiet, quarantined weekend!  And sadly, Sunday is our one year wedding anniversary.  I'm so neutropenic I can't even get fresh flowers!  Amazingly enough, I'm still in a very good mood and feeling very well given how anemic I am.  I'm really not tired, weak, short of breath, or anything at all.  Still, I would appreciate your prayers that my good frame of mind continues.  It certainly helps me handle the thought of going back for one more round of this.  Boots and sweater weather helps too!  Hope you all enjoy the beautiful weekend!

We're thinking of both of you, and it goes without saying you're in our prayers. Happy anniversary!
